Backtrack looks like it might be an interesting investment. It sits in the background and keeps track of everything you type. What you type is organised by application and window, as well as date. I haven’t used it enough yet to get a feel for how useful it will be in case of a crash, or a document I wrote a month ago that I can no longer find. I have noticed that if you do a lot of editing to what you have typed, it can get pretty out of synch and mangle up the saved text. Using single backspaces and arrow key movement seems to be all right. It is when you make selections and delete or change ranges of text that it gets confused. Rough spots aside, it is definitely for those times some something, anything is better than nothing.
