Bad synchronization of Scrivener files in iCloud app for Windows 11

When my iCloud app for Windows synchronizes my Scrivener files it does not copy all the packet content, but just a very short file with only the simple name and O content. Thus I’m unable to open the Scrivener file in my Scrivener for Windows version.

I recently installed iCloud app on my Win 11 new computer and I cannot correctly use the Scrivener for Windows version.

This is really a question for iCloud support. Scrivener saves to the location you specify. If iCloud (or any other service) then uploads (or fails to upload) the files to another system, that’s outside of Scrivener’s control.

We have a “do not use” advisory for iCloud for Windows, here:

Our article on best practices for using Scrivener with cloud services is here:

Thank you! I made it by compressing the scrivener file on my Mac a and synchronize the zip file in iCloud. After that I had to extract the zip file on my Win computer in a directory different from iCloud and finally I had the whole file structure of the Scrivener files.

Good to hear you’re back on track.

Yes, transferring ZIP files is usually pretty safe. Just make sure to use a naming convention that makes it clear which version is which.
