Possibly I am just lucky , I installed Scrivener on Linux Mint 11 with no trouble and everything works fine except for the tutorial
. The tutorial does run separately, though. If at all possible, try installing first without WINE. WINE
is flaky and one is better off not using it unless necessary. While getting used to the ins and outs of Scrivener, it looks very good for serious writing. I intend using it for a Family History project.
Ok, this is probably a dense question, but as I said in an earlier post I am new to linux / Ubuntu and some of the file name terminology is a mystery.
I already used Scrivener on Windows, no problem - I love it.
Did I need wine to install the deb vers I found here? Does that file load / work without the use of crossover / wine? (It works without problem)
Is the use of crossover / wine only necessary for the installation of the windows version?
Sorry if this is a dumb question.
Nobody bother to answer my earlier post! I just had a “Duh!” moment and answered my own question. I’m not winning any prizes in the genius stakes today!
Now that March has begun, and I’ve installed the 1.01 beta on Linux (which ends at the end of the month, it seems), is there another version with a longer lifespan coming soon? (Or should I be sifting through the other threads to find it?)
