I have a problem editing my book in pdf format because some pages begin with a blank line when in the editor there’s no blank line. I suppose there’s a problem with my configuration of separators, but I haven’t been able to reach it out.
I reckon it hasn’t to do with separators of sections, as the problem appears in the middle of the text of a section that is been “cut” by a new page. And it doesn’t appear in all cases, so, I don’t really know how to do.
The effect is very unprofessional because you have in front of you page at left and page at right not begining at the same line, and I’d like to avoid it.
Another thought: try turning off Avoid widows and orphans, in the Text Layout compile format pane. While I haven’t seen any reports of this problem specifically, that option has caused similar symptoms elsewhere.
That’s incredible. You were right, Amberv: I have turned off “Avoid widows and orphans” and the problem is been solved!! I should have realised first!
Anyway, now there will be the problem of widows and orphans. Who says thisis an easy job?
Well, thanks a lot to you both for your help. Is very pertty to find the answers to one’s questions.
Well if it makes you feel any better, most professionally published books don’t use automated widow & orphan protection, so you’ll be in good company.
Meanwhile, if this is a project you can share with us, and you can point us to precisely where the problem is, it might be something we can fix for the future.
Have you considered using characters or some special graphic symbol as section separators? That way, there’s something visual between scenes, and when the special graphic lands at the top of page, it lines up with the next page’s top.
