I’m using a mac. I am compiling using the default Manuscript (Times) and exporting to Word. I chose the option that each chapter has a page break with 14 blank lines followed by the chapter number, chapter title and then the chapter itself. But, instead of doing this, there is a completely blank page before each chapter and then the chapter number and title are at the top of the following page (instead of being 14 lines down). Why is this happening? I imported the text from a word document, could there maybe be some formatting carrying over from there? I’m going crazy. Thanks.
Omg I just fixed it. In case anyone else has this issue- it’s somehow importing extra page breaks from my original word file I think. Anyway I’m going through and highlighting every single chapter and section, cutting, and then edit >Paste and Match Style. Then when I compile, that fixes the issue. Hurrah!

If you haven’t spent too much time on that manual process yet, here is a better way of stripping out page breaks. You should be able to nuke them all at once (although I do definitely recommend the advice there to make a backup first).

Thanks, Amber. I did come across that comment before, but I don’t have an Options showing up under Format? Has it moved in the new version of Scrivener?
Oh good point, that is a rather old thread: View ▸ Text Editing ▸ Show Invisibles. The other commands mentioned there are still correct. (Hint: you can search for commands by name in the Help menu, if you find an old tip like that, and don’t know where it went).
