When I compare snapshots (or view them) on the Mac version, the font appears very small in the inspector. This is because I am using Didot 11 pt in the editor and zooming to 200% so I can read what I am composing. The snapshot in the inspect always shows unzoomed text. Furthermore, you cannot zoom the inspector pane.
This is an oversight at best or a bug.
This makes the feature almost unusable on high resolution screens. The workaround of enlarging the font before taking a snapshot is ridiculous. The idea of only using the product on at lower resolution to make it more readable at the native font size is not that much better. The only workaround I have is to copy the snapshot to another editor, where I can zoom it.
Please create a way of zooming the Inspector pane and its contents. I am attaching two pictures.
11pt Didot was used for the entire document when the snapshot was taken. The editor zoom is 200% to make it readable. Note the small font in the inspector showing a snapshot. The inspector cannot be zoomed.
36pt Didot was used for the entire document when the snapshot was taken. The editor zoom is 100%. Note the large font in the inspector showing a snapshot matches that in the editor. The inspector cannot be zoomed to make the font small so it is readable.
Open the ‘current version’ in the left editor, then split it with cmd-'.
Now go to the snapshot panel and opt-drag the snapshot to the right-hand panel editor header bar. The snapshot will then respond to standard zoom commands.
(I’ve exaggerated the zoom in the right hand editor so you can see the effect…)
You don’t have to split the editor, of course. If you just want to concentrate on the comparison and aren’t bothered with a side-by-side, just opt-drag to the main editor.
BTW, if you hover over the ‘Compare’ button in the Snapshot panel, you’ll see a snippet of help text which explains the procedure.
The only workaround I have is to copy the snapshot to another editor, where I can zoom it.
To elaborate, while my workaround and yours lets me zoom the text, and the diff text does thankfully retain its colorization, the forward and next buttons the inspector provides for navigating changes are not in the other editor. This is not a fully functional workaround. Especially since I compare many versions. The workaround is unwieldy compared to the proper function of the snapshot feature.
Fair enough: your post sounded as though you were physically copying the text, rather than opening it in the side editor.
I’ve just tried seeing if Find by formatting will pick up the highlighted changes, which would be at least something pending any changes, but it doesn’t.
