What the title says. Free or cheap preferred. Mostly, I’d like to change a glyph here or there, not (Heaven forbid) create a completely new font. Thanks in advance.
Any good to you?
I’ve downloaded it, but having a good deal of trouble figuring it out…
Mini Glyphs (or indeed the more expensive Glyphs) have 30 day free trials. Been a while since I used ‘em but from what I remember if your familiar with vector drawing concepts from things such as Adobe Illustrator then you should good to go.
Thanks! I’ll check them out.
Glyphs is amazing, the developer is also a professional font designer, making the beautiful Graublau family for example. Mini glyphs should suit your needs (€50 compared to €250).
You can also try the free Birdfont: birdfont.org/
The biggest complexities are dealing with OTF font tables, i.e. getting proper support for super/subscript, ligatures, small caps etc. I’m not sure how Birdfont deals with that, but maybe good enough for your needs?
Thanks, all! As this is a very low priority project for me, I’ll be checking out your suggestions over several days, or even weeks. I’m sure something in here will suit my (very) humble needs.
I use this to fix fonts that have errors when imported with font book as well as to fix glyphs that are incorrect.
They have a paid and free version. The free version is all I ever needed to fix a font. (The paid version is best for those who create fonts.)

A couple examples are Samarkind an Indian looking font that had errors when installing I imported and exported and it corrected the error. Buran is a great Cyrillic font and Latin which is great free font for thriller typography. But a couple of the Cyrillic characters were incorrect . It was very easy and intuitive to fix. One I just had to copy and paste and another just adjust the points. A very good free program I highly recommend for this sort of light lifting.
I’ll give it a whirl! Thanks!
