I’m just trying to find out if you can even read Scrivener documents in Microsoft Word before I purchase this software.
You cannot open a .scriv file in anything other than Scrivener.
But Scrivener will export to Microsoft Word, so all you would need to do is open Scrivener, choose ‘Compile Draft’ (and compile it to a Microsoft Word document), and then transfer the exported file to the PC instead.

- Scrivener has a 30-day trial so you can check it out first.
- Scrivener can export as .doc or .docx or .rtf. (MS reads .rtf and that one handles pictures better.)
- You should watch the video and read the docs for more info during your trial period.

Can you import from a Microsoft word document?
Yes. The docs tell you how. (See the links above.)
