“Cannot Access” Error Notice

My Windows had an update and I think I approved something with Onedrive when I probably should have skipped it.

When I tried to open my file Scrivener said it could not access the file. I asked a writing friend and they suggested the file was in another location. They were right and I guess the file back up was in my Documents for reasons I can’t remember why. In my Dropbox I must had a slightly older but still up to date back up and wanted to keep them separate.

I deleted the slightly older version to not confuse myself and moved the documents version to the Dropbox. When, I went to open my project it worked. However today, when I tried to open it I got the same error. I ended up getting the other version that was in the recycle bin and putting that in the Dropbox and moved the one that was not working into a folder in my documents just in case something messes up and I can delete it once everything is sorted out.

The project opened! I’m now in the process of checking my other WIPs and seeing which versions can’t be accessed but my Scrivener has slowed down so much and I’m getting the not responding indication and have to have windows force close.

I’m not sure what’s going on. I figured that when you want to change the location of a backup file, you can’t just copy and paste the folder somewhere else, do you have to refigure it in scrivener somehow? But if that’s the case why would the file initially open but then not work if it was the wrong one?

Other questions:

I now notice that I have Dropbox within my Onedrive. Not sure if it has always been like that or if it’s because of the update?
