I am new to Scrivener. Clippings that have been imported show on index cards and also when “edit Scrivenings” is chosen. However, cards created directly in Scrivener, with content typed from within the Scrivener program, do not show up when choosing “edit Scrivenings.” Why?
Did you only type the text in the cards? If so, the cards are for synopses only - typing in the cards does not affect the underlying text (when you import files, the synopses are automatically filled with the first few lines of text).
Please do take the time to go through the interactive tutorial (by going to Help > Tutorial), and also check out some of our tutorial videos:
The idea of cards acting as synopses is fundamental to Scrivener, and you’ll get a lot more out of the program if you take an hour to familiarise yourself with the tutorial.
All the best,
Keith
Thanks for your information. I had gone through the tutorial and all the videos previously, but the late night hour kept me from discovering the simple task of getting underlying text on the cards I created directly in Scrivener… I am good now. Thank you. Sleep has an amazing way of clearing the mind. BTW - your tutorials and videos do a great job of teaching the program!
Glad you like the tutorial and videos, and I’m glad you’ve got things sorted. Hmm, sleep… What’s that again? (I have a terrible habit of staring at problems late at night, knowing that I’ll be able to see the solution straight away if I just go to sleep and look at it in the morning… But I never do.)
All the best,
Keith
