I just updated to the latest official release of version 3, but I cannot buy it or run it, because as soon as the software starts, it immediately crashes when the “buy now” popup screen shows up. There are no other ways I can buy it except from that screen. So now I can’t use the previous beta version or the new version because I can’t even buy it. I tried uninstalling the beta versions and that didn’t help. It did allow me to get to the beginning windows of choosing backup location and shortcut versions, but it times out and crashes after a few seconds. I’d have to make those choices very fast to advance to the next screen, but once I finish those choices it crashes anyway.

Some suggestions:
-
Try downloading again, as it least one user complained about a corrupted download. See this thread for steps that poster took to fix things: [url]https://forum.literatureandlatte.com/t/upgraded-to-3-0-for-windows-text-gone/95128/1]

Just for kicks, disable your anti-virus software and see if that makes a difference.

Double-posting really doesn’t help, as I imagine people who monitor the forums do it like I do, via the Active Topics or New Posts or Unanswered Topics buttons. Instead, the best way to get L&L’s attention is to contact support directly here: https://www.literatureandlatte.com/bug-reporting
I hope you find a solution quickly.
Best,
Jim
when my buy now screen came up, it interfaced with Internet Explorer, not my default internet browser, and it came up and wanted me to like set up my security for IE. I had to X out that screen to even advance. It was annoying. Just a thought. Do you have Internet Explorer downloaded on your computer?
I mean, you’re saying that you’re having crashing trouble before you even get there, so it might not even be vaguely related, but I thought I’d throw it out there as a thought.
I have amended the instructions on this page to describe an alternate approach you can take if the built-in store doesn’t work properly, for whatever reason. Hopefully that gets you back up and running!
Thanks! I tried suggestions but they didn’t work. Scrivener still crashes soon after starting.
Moderator note: merged the two separate posts so that everyone was on the same discussion.
I would also draw your attention to this post, now made directly above instead of in another thread.
This option is not available for me because I cannot even get Scrivener to stay open long enough to enter my license and get the coupon code–Scrivener simply crashes before I have time to do that.
Okay! In that case I would get in touch with support as that is something separate from the known issues. They should either know how to fix it, or help you find diagnostic information to shed some light on what is going on.
I already posted it to the bug-report page: literatureandlatte.com/bug-reporting
Do you run any kind of VPN.
So also look at firewall settings.
thought was - is this related to Scrivener connection to the store / validation services.
No VPN active, and I tried disabling all anti-virus and checked firewall.
