canonical way to find pdflatex

I have read that I need to disable SIP and put texbin in /usr .
pdflatex is now in /Library/TeX/texbin (not /usr/texbin).

I’ve read posts advising to deactivate SIP and just move texbin to /usr
Is there another “approved” way to do this?

I have Scrivener 3.2.2 on OSX 11.2.3

I thought I had read that the newer versions of Scrivener check for this location of texbin? Or was I imagining things?

I’d be grateful for any help

Cheers

found a solution.

put:

export PATH=/Library/TeX/texbin:/usr/local/bin:$PATH

as the first line of the script.

but I’m still wondering if Scrivener is meant to detect /Library/TeX/texbin?

cheers
