Can't compile to Word or OpenOffice under WINE, but PDF works

I haven’t had to compile my writing in a long time. Since then, I’m sure I’ve moved computers and upgraded WINE. Now it doesn’t work. I’ve tried DOC, DOCX, and OpenOffice (ODT). The conversion begins and it seems to complete, but no file gets generated.

I opened Scrivener’s log and it’s not very helpful. After all of the Info: "TimeCounter lines where it assembles my scenes, I get these four lines and nothing else:

Debug: Executed: "C:\\Program Files\\Scrivener3\\docformats\\aspose\\Aspose.exe"
Debug: Working Dir: "C:/Program Files/Scrivener3/docformats/aspose"
Debug: StdOut: ""
Debug: StdErr: ""

However, if I use PDF, that works just fine. I’m guessing there’s a problem with that Aspose app. Running Scrivener from a terminal shows these two lines of output:

0238:err:module:fixup_imports_ilonly mscoree.dll not found, IL-only binary L"Aspose.exe" cannotbe loaded
0238:err:module:loader_init Importing dlls for L"C:\\Program Files\\Scrivener3\\docformats\\aspose\\Aspose.exe" failed, status c0000135

It seems like I’m missing something in WINE.

Debian 12, WINE 10.0 with dotnet48, Scrivener 3.1.5.1.

Aspose is the third-party library that Win Scrivener uses for format conversions. Either it isn’t installed – in which case try reinstalling Scrivener – or it doesn’t have permission to run.

I’m not sure what is going on here, but it’s worth mentioning that RTF is often going to be just as good, if not better, as you’ll be using the target word processor’s native conversion which in my experience is often better than Aspose. ODT in particular (I presume you prefer LibreOffice) is a little messy from Aspose, with serialised page styles and such.
