Can't open mac file in Windows

I’m switching from a mac to windows scrivener. when I try to open my scrivener file in windows, created in Mac, I’m told that the file was created in a more recent version of Scrivner and I need to update. But when I try to update, I’m told my windows scrivner is up to date.

So, in short, I seem unable to open my mac created scrivner file in my windows scrivner program.

Your Mac version is probably V3, which as you’ve found is not compatible with the current Windows version.

If you still have your Mac available, then the fix is easy. On your Mac, you should be able to export your project in V2 format, which Windows will be able to open.

ETA: The actual process is File -> Export -> As Scrivener 2 Project.
