Thanks I’ve sent the e-mail through
Thanks! Okay, I would point you back to my first response:
Perhaps at some point this ingredient was reverted and that is why things went back to not working again. Although your Formatting pane settings will ignore the centre-alignment part, the rest of the Formatting pane is still influencing the asterisks, and if look at the formatting attributes for text, you’ll find there is an indent on each paragraph, which means the asterisks get the indent applied to them as well, pushing the centre-point back off again.
Does that make more sense?
So what I did to get the separator compiling correctly was one simple thing: I found an asterisk separator, selected it, and used Format/Formatting/Preserve Formatting, then double-checked to make sure there was no indent on the line that would get carried through as well (and the one I checked was fine).
Fixed! I think you were right. I did actually try the preserve formatting option previously but it didn’t appear to fix it at the time because of the first line indent, so I reversed it. It’s the combination of the preserve formatting AND eliminating the first line indent that fixed it.
Another problem was that there are 5 occurrences of the centred *** characters. I had removed the first line indent on the first 4 but not the 5th but it was 5th that I went to each time after compile to see whether it was working. Doh!
Thank you soooo much for your persistence
