Changing BBC Radio Play Template Font macOS

Hi everyone. New user, Scrivener 3, macOS. I’m trying the BBC Radio Play template, but can’t seem to get the font change to stay. It’s Ariel by default, and I’m looking to switch to Courier Prime. I can switch within the document itself, but when I hit ‘return’ to go to new character or tech directions, it reverts back to Ariel every time. I have tried through Scrivener Preferences, and through Project Preferences - no luck. What am I missing?

Not a major issue, just an annoyance that I’m sure has a solution I’m not seeing. I write screenplays and teleplays on Final Draft, but bought Scrivener specifically for the radio play template. Thanks anyone with ideas.

Script settings are a bit more strict than normal text editing. You can’t just change the font in the editor and have it continue using that, because each time you select a new element (which press Return does automatically), it resets all of the formatting to the stored settings.

So to change the font, go into the Format ▸ Scriptwriting ▸ Script Settings dialogue, and go through each element, changing the font for each one individually.

Once you’ve done that and tested the results, you may want to return to that panel and use the Manage button in the lower left corner to “Save for use with other projects”. That will add it to the main Scriptwriting menu, and if you want to have a project template use your settings so that you don’t even have to select it manually, you can create your own template using the stock one as a starter. You’ll find details on doing so in the user manual, under §5.4.4, Revising Templates, though the prior section on creating templates will also be useful if you’ve never made one before.

Project templates are a great way of saving your preferred working environment, project settings and starter documents in the binder.
