I have set up an ordinary collection of all of my chapters. I would like to view the collection as a corkboard (done), move the chapters into a new order (done) but I don’t want to change the order in the binder until I’m happy with the changes I have made in the collection. Currently, the order in the binder changes to match the order in the collection.
I am aware that I can do this using the freeform corkboard and selecting ‘Commit Freeform Order’ when I’m happy with the rearrangement. Is there an equivalent using the regular corkboard?
I think there might be a missing ingredient somewhere in the mix there, as viewing a collection on the corkboard and modifying its order would change the collection order, which you should see immediately happening in the left sidebar, but never the underlying binder order.
Have a look at Figure 10.3, in the user manual PDF, along with the subsequent annotations on the various buttons, in §10.2.1, and make sure you are definitely using the right button to load the items into the corkboard. What you want to see is the name of the collection itself in the editor header bar, along with a special icon that looks like a folder with tabs along the top.
Hi Amber. For “missing ingredient”, read “user error”. I’ve got it working. Switching from the regular view to the freeform view also allows me to make it permanent, although it’s a bit fiddly if working with 30 or so chapters. Thanks for your help with this.
