I want to compile the document, but cannot figure out how to make the first chapter say ‘Prelude’ instead of ‘Chapter One’. I’m assuming that this isn’t hard to do, but I haven’t quite gotten how to do it. Using it on Mac, if that makes a difference.

You need a section layout that does not add an autonumbering placeholder. Probably the simplest way is to duplicate the layout you’re using for numbered chapters, and edit it to remove the placeholder,
