Chapter #

How do I automatically create chapter #s, etc. for compiling?

(I noticed that I could do that for mac version, but I don’t know how to do it for Win…)

Thanks!

Hello Nadia,

I believe this is on the beta to-do list. The relevant section does not currently appear to be available in the Windows version of Scrivener.

All the best,
David

Thank you, David!

I think the counters themselves are in, actually. Check the Edit/Insert/Auto Number/ sub-menu. There should be numbering styles in there, and they will insert a token (which you can just type in with the keyboard once you learn it). I’m not sure if these actually compile correctly yet, but they will so go ahead and feel free to start using them.

If that menu doesn’t work in the title field yet (which in my quick test they do not), try it in the main text area so you can see what the token is, and then just type it in by hand. For instance, a numeral based counter is <$n> “Chapter 1”. A counter that spells out the number is <$w> “Chapter One”
