Character Dialog List

For my screenplay work, I’d like to see a Character Dialog List that simply displays the dialog spoken by a selected character over the course of the story.

I realize it’s possible to see all the scenes in which a character appears, but a more focused list would help during dialog revision to keep sentence structure and word choice consistent for a given character. Even better, lists for two different characters, shown side by side on a split screen, would help to differentiate their word choices.

If this isn’t something for Scriv itself, perhaps it could be done with Applescript and sent to an RTF file.

When Scrivener eventually becomes Apple-scriptable (not for a while yet), maybe a user will code something like this. I don’t see this becoming part of Scrivener itself, though, I’m afraid. The screenplay and script elements are really just formatting macros rather than full script editing implementations.
