Check external folder on load does not work ...

Hi

Syncing to an external folder (on dropbox) works flawlessly. I can edit files on the ipad, and I then also I receive updates with the command “Sync -> With External Folder Now”.

But, my Scrivener does not check the “External Folder” after opening the scrivener project automatically (even having this option clicked in the external folder sync panel).

How i can reproduce the problem:

  • Edit a page in Scrivener, close the document (and see the sync/external folder dialog)

  • I see the changes in the dropbox folder locally on my Mac

  • I see the changes in the text editor on the IPad (Textilus) and add a line and sync back to dropbox

  • I see the changes form the ipad in the dropbox folder locally on my Mac

  • I open the project in Scrivener, but I still see the old version before the update from the ipad, no dialog about changes or whatsoever.

  • But if I run the sync - with external folder now menu command and get the update and snapshot diff etc.

Some notes:

  • The Check external folder on project open and automatically sync on close is activated
  • Scrivener Version: 2.6 (25479)

Thanks for any hints on this issue …
Bernhard

I haven’t seen this happen myself. I don’t regularly edit anything with an iPad (I use the feature more like an inbox to file things to projects that are currently closed) but that should make little difference if the Dropbox folder is being updated properly and verified with a text editor on the Mac or with Quick Look.

Does this always happen, or only sporadically?

Another question, it might have just been a mistype, but did you mean anything special by saying that the project loads “automatically”? Does that mean you’re cold booting and using OS X’s state saving to bring up your desktop the way you left it, or something along those lines? I never use that function myself, nor do I have Scrivener load projects unless I tell it to myself, so I might not be running conditions that you use regularly, and that is why I’ve never seen it.
