Just barely getting to know this program and I feel like it may have been mistake and I am over my head. The tutorial and all of those “help” files live in my Draft. I also started a new project and only want to see the new project. A support rep said I could just File-Close Project, but what it does is close the entire app. Does anyone else have this issue?
Hi Kerbear94, and welcome to the forum.
By default, Scrivener will automatically open all the projects you had open when you last closed the software.
To correct that, I recommend holding down the Shift key on your keyboard while asking the computer to launch the Scrivener software. You’ll hold the Shift key until Scrivener fully loads.
That will have it open to the new project templates panel. You can use the Open Recent option there to select just the project you want to work on.
If you want to change Scrivener’s settings so it always starts on the new project templates screen, you can use File > Options > General > Startup and untick the box for “Reopen projects that were open on quit” box.
Clicking Apply will have Scrivener use that setting from now on. Then, you’ll be able to use Open Recent or Open Existing Project commands to select your project.
If you think you’ll be working on several projects and changing back and forth between them, these changes might be useful.
Another option is add the scrivener program shortcut to the taskbar. (Can right click shortcut to see that option.)
Now click on taskbar shortcut and will a list of recently opened scrivener projects. Click on the ONE project you want to open.
Thank you both! Feeling a little less overwhelmed!
