Composition Mode Paper Fade setting doesnt save within template

My original post has been deleted because I thought i found the answer in save as template.
I took a project that had all the settings i want
Composition backdrop
Scroller invisible
etc.
THen when i thought i figured out my issue. I slide paper fade to invisible, save as template, IT DOES NOT SAVE it when a new project is created. Is there a different way to achieve what i want. I want transparent paper fade to be fully on. i.e. all i see is my compsotion back drop.

I wouldnt call this a bug as much as maybe a “cant do”

Scrivener has been around a long time, and many sites haven’t updated their advice for older versions.

In this case, though, it’s the change in operating system version that is confusing: I can’t remember when it changed exactly, but modern versions of MacOS all have Scrivener > Settings, not Scrivener > Preferences (for all programs, not just Scrivener, so you get [Program Name] > Settings now, not [Program name > Preferences].

As for your specific question (second post), if you look in Scrivener > Settings > Appearance > Composition Mode > Options you’ll see there’s a option to Use current composition settings for new projects which should do what you want (going by the explanatory text in the screenshot below…):

Does that help?

You’re very welcome!

For future reference, “Appearance” settings are not saved as part of a project template. This is because projects are platform agnostic – the same project will work with Mac Scrivener, iOS Scrivener, or Windows Scrivener – while many of the Appearance settings are platform-specific.

You can use the “Manage” button at the lower left of the Settings pane to save either a Theme (Appearance) or a complete Settings file.
