Hi, I am trying to transfer Scrivener files from an older PC laptop (Dell Latitude 7420) to a newer one (HP envy x360). I had last purchased Scrivener for Windows in November 2017, and I tried to install it on my new laptop, but of course the old version was no longer supported. So I purchased the latest version of Scrivener 3 and installed it on both laptops. On my old laptop I have no problem opening my Scrivener files in the latest version of Scrivener 3. However, I have tried uploading the files to both Dropbox and OneDrive, but when I try to download them and open them with Scrivener 3 on the new laptop, I get an error message that reads: âProject structure modifications of âDownloadsâ arenât in sync, possibly because of conflicts caused by storing the project on a cloud service.â
Are you sure the syncâs are complete and fully âofflineâ copied to your local disk. Both Dropbox and Microsoft OneDrive have to be told to do that.
When you say you are âuploadingâ them to the cloud. Have you installed the Dropbox/OneDrive apps on both systems and set them to sync with the folders set to âMake Available Offlineâ (Dropbox) or âAlways Keep on this Deviceâ (OneDrive)?
Is this a one time transfer, or do you want to continue to use both systems?
For a one time transfer, thereâs no need to bother with a cloud service at all. Connect an external drive to System A, use File Explorer to drag the projects to the external drive, then connect the drive to System B. Or, alternatively, use the File â Backup â Backup To command, make a ZIP backup, and transfer by any convenient method.
