"conflicts caused by storing the projects on a Cloud service"

Hi, I am trying to transfer Scrivener files from an older PC laptop (Dell Latitude 7420) to a newer one (HP envy x360). I had last purchased Scrivener for Windows in November 2017, and I tried to install it on my new laptop, but of course the old version was no longer supported. So I purchased the latest version of Scrivener 3 and installed it on both laptops. On my old laptop I have no problem opening my Scrivener files in the latest version of Scrivener 3. However, I have tried uploading the files to both Dropbox and OneDrive, but when I try to download them and open them with Scrivener 3 on the new laptop, I get an error message that reads: “Project structure modifications of “Downloads” aren’t in sync, possibly because of conflicts caused by storing the project on a cloud service.”

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Are you sure the sync’s are complete and fully “offline” copied to your local disk. Both Dropbox and Microsoft OneDrive have to be told to do that.

When you say you are ‘uploading’ them to the cloud. Have you installed the Dropbox/OneDrive apps on both systems and set them to sync with the folders set to ‘Make Available Offline’ (Dropbox) or ‘Always Keep on this Device’ (OneDrive)?

Is this a one time transfer, or do you want to continue to use both systems?

For a one time transfer, there’s no need to bother with a cloud service at all. Connect an external drive to System A, use File Explorer to drag the projects to the external drive, then connect the drive to System B. Or, alternatively, use the File → Backup → Backup To command, make a ZIP backup, and transfer by any convenient method.
