As said above, I am considering a move from Microsoft Word to this platform. I’m done a lot of work in Word, but have been eager to move on due to their lack of focus on the user, and their seeming intent to remove anything I actually like about that platform.
Finding Scrivener made my day! I hope it will work with my needs.
Now to the question:
Because I do not have an editor, I make roughly 3 editing passes through a novel before publishing, the last as it is read to me, usually by an AI, etc.
Is there any vocal reading component to Scrivener?
I write in french.
I would say give it a try and see.
(Careful if playing with the settings, under Windows it sometimes mess things up. – Perhaps it’d be best to do without, at this point. Try the different voices, but don’t tweak the tone and speed just yet.)
This gives you 30 days of use to import your existing work from Word into Scrivener, play around with the speech tool, and make sure Scrivener will work with your writing and editing workflow.
And even more significantly, per the L&L web site:
If you don’t have a licence, Scrivener will run in trial mode. The trial is exactly the same as the full version but will stop working after 30 days of use. (If you use it every day, it lasts 30 days; if you use it only two days a week, it lasts fifteen weeks.)
What a wonderful way to give Scrivener a whirl. Thanks!
