Convert from Microsoft Word 2013 (Indents)

Hey there!

I’m currently trying out Scrivener and i have a large novel document I’m trying to convert from word. I converted the document but the paragraph indents are all over the place.

Is there a way for me to have all the indents removed and keep all the paragraphs, without having to do it manually one paragraph at a time.

My document has some paragraphs indented and some not indented, due to changing computers and word programs.

I’ve been googling and looking at multiple self-help videos but can’t seem to find the answer I’m looking for.

Thanks.

If your paragraph indents are (at least partially) due to using the TAB key, then in Word, you’ll want to select & copy one tab character and then do a search and replace for all TAB characters, replacing them with nothing. Then import that version of your manuscript into Scrivener.

If the indent inconsistencies are due to a variety of paragraph format settings, then select the documents in Scrivener’s binder and go to Documents->Convert->Formatting to default text style…

If the result doesn’t look the way you want it to, then go to Tools->Options->Editor and adjust the sample paragraph until it appears the way you want your manuscript’s text to look and repeat the convert formatting menu command.
