Copy and past from the editor[NOTED]

I’m sorry, Lee, if this issue has been covered already. Anyway, here it is:

  • I copied a chunk of text from the editor to the document notes. However, since the text copied wast to big to fit within the notes windows, I tried to change the type size. Unfortunately, it was not possible: the Format Bar was grayed out. I wonder if this is a feature to be implemented yet?

I tested this on my netbook with Windows 7 starter.

I’m also running a Linux (Ubuntu) version of Scrivener and it works great.

Cheers.

I’m pretty sure that the formatting toolbar only applies to the content of the main editing screen, not the notes or synopsis parts which are there to hold alternate/additional info relating to the main file.

It might be good to be able to adjust the font size within the overall Options for Scrivener, or to expand or dock/undock the windows currently displayed in the sidebar area.

One temporary fix to give you a little more room is to collapse down, for example, the GENERAL part in that sidebar by clicking on the downwards arrow next to its name. You can also click-drag the vertical divider between the main editing screen and the sidebar to widen the sidebar. Either of these will allow the DOCUMENT NOTES part a little more room.

I don’t think you can edit the font in the notes…at least I can’t while using the windows version, and the mac’s in use, so I can’t get near one to see if you can edit the text there.

The document notes section does not have any formatting capability and none is planned for this. I take the point about providing option->setting font and font size for this, but still can’t promise anything at this stage.

Thank you for the reply.

I thought about this because I can see some of us copying text from elsewhere into the notes window.

Having the possibility to manipulate the font size give us more comprehensive freedom in terms of what can we bring (not just typing) to the notes.

Cheers.
