Hi,
This is not a bug, it’s intentional behaviour. Apple has phased out skeuomorphic design - UI elements containing real-word textures - so the corkboard texture is now turned off by default in Scrivener, preferring instead a light grey background. Although there’s a more modern look by default now, we know that many users like the corkboard texture, so if you want it back, you can still select it from the “Corkboard” pane of the Preferences.
Hope that helps,
Keith
That doesn’t make send to me at all. Why is it contingent on what Apple does? If the Corkboard can still be displayed, why turn it off as default???
Still, I turned it back on, and everything is good again. After all, why call something a Corkboard if there is no cork background?
Because it’s still conceptually a corkboard. It’s not just contingent on what Apple does, but the corkboard texture now gives Scrivener a very dated look on modern operating systems such as Yosemite and El Capitan. Application defaults should make the app the most appealing it can be on modern systems, so the change makes perfect sense given modern design tendencies. Personally, I think it looks much better without the texture anyway. But we’ve left the texture in there so that users who like it still have access to it, so everyone wins.
Thanks for keeping the texture, Keith. Its much warmer and much preferred.
Thank you for the roadmap getting me back to the original board…I am so “vieille école” and cork is so comforting!
