I’m a newbie and have worked my way through all the tutorials, but can’t find an answer to my problem. I was working along just fine with a vertically divided screen. The text on the right and my vertical notecards showing up on the left (between the text and the binder). I must have hit something wrong because my notecards are now just a duplication of the same text I’m writing. The notes on the notecards have disappeared. I can’t figure out how to restore my view to the original view of chapter text in one section and notecards in another. Help! This learning curve is kind of steep! Thanks so much…WG
Did you perhaps switch views in the left split? Click into it and check the toolbar for that segmented control. Is the yellow highlight on the corkboard icon? If not click it and see if things go back to normal (you may need to select your chapter again in the binder). It kind of sounds like you might have switch into Scrivenings view, which lets you edit the text content for whole sections at once.
Hi Wordgirl
Wish I had a dollar for every time I’ve done that
What I think you’ve done is inadvertently click on the document link in the Binder while you have focus on the corkboard side of the split display.
If you click on the left hand text display, then go back to the top level of your documents in the Binder and click on that, then click on the corkboard icon on the main toolbar (middle one of the three), you should return to the display you had before.
As I mentioned before, I’ve done it myself several times and the first time it took me a while to figure out what had happened and how to get back to the view I wanted.
Hope that helps.
Richard
Thanks Richard & Amber for the help.
Your advice worked perfectly. It is back to normal and now I’ll know what to do the next time I mess it up!
I’m already officially in love with Scrivener. I’ve been more productive today alone with this program than the entire last week of writing without it. Thanks for taking the time to help a newbie out!
