creating custom shapes

I have not purchased Scapple yet but I was wondering if it has the ability to enable me to create custom shapes such as those used in a flowchart for computer programming.

Not that I can tell - you can have images, but those images do not provide a way to put text on top of them. Also, if you like things all nicely aligned, there is no “Align-Top” or “Align-Left” kind of feature.

Scapple is designed to be a light-fast-brainstorming tool … here is a sample flow …

Yeah if you’re looking for something to document programming interfaces and such, you might be better off with something like the open source Dia—which is aimed squarely at programmers and engineers. Scapple is a bit more like a freeform canvas based text editor. It has the ability to embellish “nodes” of text, and establish simple relationships between them, but I myself wouldn’t use it for flowcharts.

There is a demo by the way. Thirty days just like Scrivener.
