Can someone direct me to the complier setting that controls the distance between Title and Text? (I’m using a Level 2 title, and Level 1 text.) I’ve tried many settings but get this tight space between the two:
CHAPTER 1
“The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.”
When I would like:
CHAPTER 1
“The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.”
Sorry if this is so basic. I seem to be missing something obvious.
The answer kind of depends on how you’ve organised your binder, and how you’ve set things up in the Formatting pane. If you started with one of the example novel templates, for instance, then you might have a folder = chapter; files = scenes type setup. Whatever the case, the trick is to find the thing that is generating chapter titles in the Formatting compile options pane. Once you’ve found that, you should see a sample title in the mock editor, but probably no text below it. That’s fine, you can still insert a space even if the text isn’t shown, but you might want to temporarily check off the “Text” item for the folder row so that you can see what you are doing. Now with that set up, click into the title row in the editor and use the normal Spacing tool on the Format Bar to add spacing after the paragraph. That’s the “Other…” option in the line-spacing pull-down. Once you get that looking the way you like, you should switch off the text output again and then do a test compile to make sure it all works.
