If I say I like apple pie because my only other choice is strawberry pie and I hate strawberry pie, do I sound like I like apple pie?
I don’t think so.
Yet, the reason you give are things I never experienced in the many years (30+) I’ve been extensively working with PCs and Windows.
Never was I in the middle of something and got interrupted by an ad.
Recently, never did Bing or whatnot cut short to my inspiration while running Scrivener (or anything else) by popping up to ask me a question. (Stupid or not be the question.)
I am pretty sure this is also true for the vast majority of people running Scrivener under Windows.
This said, I didn’t at the time, and still don’t care what OS you use. It is your business, and I have always been the “as long as people are happy” type of guy.
You are still posting new threads whining people made fun of you after you’ve been clarified it wasn’t the case. What can I say. Poor little you.
. . . . . . . . . . . .
@AmberV
For the last two years or so I have been pouring quite a lot of my time in this forum.
I was using it as a “reset” for my brain during my writing sessions (sometimes getting sucked in by an issue that seemed simple and wasn’t) whenever I felt I was done with this or that, or simply needed a short break.
Although I was helping users (and I am happy I did) my main motivation behind doing so was twofold:
1- Support LL by doing what I could so that less users would get discouraged by the complexity of Scrivener, therefor increasing your potential sales by the end of the trial period, giving you means to hire more techs for development, or whatever would seem fit to you guys. (None of my business what you do, I was just trying to contribute, hopefully (no questions asked) toward Scrivener.
2- Support you directly @AmberV, by helping with the forum, in hope of increasing the time you could invest in other things, like coding upgrades etc.
I could go on, but that sums it pretty much alright to me.
Now, this dude comes along, and not only doesn’t he ask for help, he comes here just to say that he already knows he’s gonna have to look for an alternative to Scrivener.
He can’t get it to work.
I try to tell him that Windows doesn’t do what he claims it does, and he goes ape shit.
I don’t really care about that. My “triggering post” was very poorly formulated after all, I should have edited it more than simply stating that I had friendly intentions. My bad.
But…
After all the time I’ve invested in the forum, it makes no difference.
The guy is a Linux user just like you, so it is love. (I’ll say it again, I don’t care the OS one uses.)
He gives me a load of crap, takes whatever fits his fury for granted (like I know nothing about computers etc, right. – How would he know anyways??), and you show up and put a like on this load of crap ?
And you add to it in this other thread?
No one did any of that, btw. lol
Anyways, my point being that overall it says a lot about the true value you see in people being active on this here forum.
(I should add that it is nowhere near what I would have expected from someone who is a moderator on the forum.)
So, given the fact that my goal was never personal gratification (I am happy I got to help a couple of users, still, don’t get me wrong) but I see no point in supporting you or LL any longer.
This will be my last post.
…It is purely mathematical.
