However, here goes. All you write above may be true. But two facts you haven’t mentioned which as far as I know are indisputable: the United States is a very unequal nation in personal income terms, about as unequal as Russia on some measures, and it has become much more unequal in the last thirty years. That’s true whatever statistics you examine, and even if you make allowances for some mis-reporting of earnings. Bosses who used to earn twenty times their average employees, now earn two hundred times. Yet can we say that their decisions are ten times better than before?
So unequal has the United States become that economic gains over recent years have largely accrued to the rich and very rich, certainly not to the poor, and not to the middle classes, however defined (which might help account for current widespread disaffection amongst middle earners).
So unequal has the US become that even that well-known left-wing liberal Alan Greenspan has been moved to declare:
“As I’ve often said, this is not the type of thing which a democratic society - a capitalist democratic society - can really accept without addressing.”
I suggest that whatever the flaws of the American political and welfare systems, current levels of American income inequality (and not just American either) are unlikely to be sustainable for ever. Something will break.

Yeah, then all the bigots could go live together and subjugate the minorities in their states. And states that want to dump pollution into rivers, no problem… well unless you’re in a state down river. But hey, we don’t want the federal guvmint telling us what to do!
Yeah asking for the country to actually abide by the constitution would lead to such HORRORS! I mean we could never trust American People to be nothing but bigots and pollutants. I mean truly speaking Americans cannot even properly wipe there asses anymore. They need “guidance” and detailed instructions on every single facet of their lives because if they actually had any little bit of freedom terrible things would occur. Much better to push for a socialist agenda and that way we can emulate other “great” socialist leaders like Hitler or we could lean toward a more communist system and have such great humans rights like the Chinese government displays.
I mean what the hell where the founding fathers thinking when they put in the 10th amendment?
This whole “freedom” thing is silly. Much better to live under tyranny and oppression right? Then all us socialists can great each other with a “Heil (insert great leader like Ayers here)” or even better, we can demand that those that are more successful have everything taken from them and distrubted amongst all the crack heads so everything is “fair and just”.
I mean hard work and success is so over rated these days. Why work so hard when you can just demand Big Mother take care of all your wants and needs, oh and make your neighbor slave to the bone to pay for it.
Even better, maybe we can have a mandate on proper ass wiping. That way we are all equal, even down to the way we wipe our asses.
