"Disappearing" insertion cursor bug in Scapple 1.4.2, OS 13.6.6, M2

Hi,
I’ve been frustrated, trying to figure out why the black insertion cursor ‘disappears’ when I type text in a normal light background/black letters note.

When zooming in absurdly close on the note, I can see that the cursor has changed from black to white and is thus virtually invisible at normal zoom ratios.

If I save the file, close and reopen it, without relaunching Scapple, the black cursor is back, until ….

I just found the problem. I have some ‘heading notes’ with white text on dark blue note background. When I type in this ‘negative’ note, the insertion cursor turns white, as it should. But, when I then start typing in a ‘positive’ note, the insertion cursor does not switch back to black, as it should!

Hopefully, the devs can fix this for the next regular release?

Kind regards,
Joachim

I would check and make sure this problem does not appear in the beta version, as this description sounds a lot like a bug that was fixed, as noted in its release notes:

Thank you for the heads up, AmberV! It’s good to know that an upcoming release has likely eliminated this little road bump.

Earlier, I tried running the latest (?) Beta 9 v1.4.2.9.2 (11723) on my MB A M2 13.6.6. system, but we didn’t get along well enough for it to be used in RL, so I’m still on the (for me) stable 1.4.2 (8459).

I also noted that Beta 9 will expire day after tomorrow and with no new beta announced …

Kind regards,
Joachim

We just uploaded b10, which should be a lot better for daily use. The previous beta was indeed only good for testing specific issues.

Thank you! Great – I can open the Inspector! In general, Beta 10 seems to have come long way. :+1:

I don’t know if this is the right forum for a request, but one BIG request from me is for an option in Settings/General to have Scapple, on launch, open the latest open file!

All my other writing tools allow me to conveniently launch with the latest file ready for action instead of having to mouse around in the Files menu – a small but real workflow lubricant.

Pretty please?

Kind regards,
Joachim

On that, there is already an existing query:
