Distribute Vertically changes order

I created a list of items, top to bottom. If I try to distribute vertically, it changes the order that it’s in.

And no, I don’t think you are doing it wrong. I believe it is a bug that has been reported a while back.

Hi! When I try to distribute the notes vertically, Scapple changes the order of the notes and puts the oldest notes at the top and the newest notes at the bottom. What is wrong with my setup?

Yes, as Vincent said, this is a bug that cropped up in 1.5.1, causing the items to be reordered. It will be fixed in the next update, which I expect out before too long.

In the meanwhile, switching to movement mode (just tap the M key when not editing a note) will give you more control to nudge the notes into place with the arrow keys (hold Shift to move them a greater distance at a time). It’s admittedly not as quick as the distribute command would be, but it could help you get the visual distribution more easily than trying to drag with a mouse and maintain the correct order.

Thank you! Look forward to the update. And I had no idea about ‘Movement Mode’ (I haven’t read the user manual in many updates), so that will come in handy.
