Do I really have to “move” my original project file to dropbox/apps/scrivener to use iOS scriv? I’ve “synced” everything from MacOS Scriv 3 within my project folder, but when I sync my iOS Scrivener on my iPad Mini the project doesn’t show up.
It appears from the Help questions that I need to move my actual original project file on my MacBooPro (mid-2010) hard drive onto Dropbox/apps/scrivener to accomplish a proper sync. But if that’s the case then my original project is now NOT on my hard drive and I can only work on either platform if I’m connected to the internet and dependent on internet speeds (and the horrifying risk that dropbox will be inaccessible and I lose my entire project). Surely this is not the case, is it?
Dropbox is a folder on your hard drive, so moving to Dropbox/Apps/Scrivener does not remove it from the hard drive. Dropbox is three things: a folder on the hard drive, a cloud service, and an app that syncs the hard drive and cloud copies.
You can have the projects you want to sync in any subfolder of the Dropbox folder that the Dropbox app creates on your HD when you install it on your Mac.
As lunk says, you can put projects in any Dropbox subfolder. It’s just that Dropbox/Apps/Scrivener is the iOS Scrivener default. If you want to put it somewhere else in Dropbox, you have to tell iOS Scrivener where, in Dropbox settings.
