How are document property fields populated when compiling PDFs? In Acrobat Reader, a compiled PDF’s document properties display empty fields for Author, Subject, and Keywords, and the Title field appears to show the title of a random binder folder not currently selected. Editing the metadata in the Compile overview has no impact. I have not yet been able to find any settings that apply. What am I missing?
I still haven’t found any settings that appear to apply, and I’m starting to wonder if there’s just a bug preventing those property fields from populating from the metadata. I’d be happy to be proven wrong. Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks for the report. I’ve marked this down as a bug. Either we should not be showing the fields, or they should be working as expected.
Thank you! I vote for working as expected. It would be nice to have the option to control what goes in those fields.
Oh sure, but it really comes down to whether or not the engine they use to create the PDFs has any programming hooks for adding that metadata in the first place.
Any progress on this? I’m here because today I have the same problem in Scriv3 for Win and looking for a solution. PDF doc properties are blank, except Title set to a random chapter heading (Ch. 17). Only occurs with a PDF compile. MS Word, ePub etc are all compiling OK. Metadata is all set up correctly in the project/program. Nothing in the manuals. Must be a bug.
Unfortunately it appears that this problem persists in 3.1.2.
The change log is located here. If you do not find a bug you’ve reported listed in there, then it is highly unlikely to have been fixed. If you do see it in the list and it isn’t working as expected, then absolutely let us know.
Fair enough. Thanks.
