Document Targets Bullseye Not Showing In Footer View

I hope everyone is well. I am using Scrivener 3 Version 3.3.6 on a MacBook Air.

Despite not being in scriptwriting mode, and selecting Show Footer View, there is no bullseye in the bottom right hand corner for me to set up document targets - all I can see is the Toggle Include In Compile check box - I’d like to set up a target for each folder (chapter). I also tried selecting the document in the binder but no cigar.

Many thanks in advance. Best wishes.

So, if you select a chapter-folder in the Binder, the editor is most likely in Scrivenings mode (showing all subdocuments of that folder). Pressing 1 switches to “single document mode” (not sure if this is the actual term, I’m just making it up here). Now you can set the target. It will count all subdocuments in Scrivenings mode, though.

Thank you so much, November_Sierra - will give that a try. Much obliged.

The bullseye actually appeared when I clicked on the file rather than the folder! I now have what I wanted, so the assistance is much appreciated.

The fastest way to set targets for multiple files is via the Outline view. Enable both the Target and Total Target columns.

Also, if you have some kind of “standard target” for your chapters, it’s also worth considering a template-folder with a preset target. This way don’t have to change it over and over again for every new chapter.
