I purchased a new PC running Windows 8. My last laptop also had Windows 8.
When I try to Compile, Dropbox opens up and starts Initializing (trying to install the program again.). Dropbox is already fully installed. I can’t get it to work.
I let it do it once. Restarted, etc. Same thing. I even saved the file locally in my laptop’s Document location. Same problem. Try to Compile, and the Dropbox Initializing comes up. Any suggestions?
This is just a shot in the dark… but are you trying to compile to Kindle (mobi) by any chance? If so, open the compile window and look at the KindleGen pane; what is the .exe file & path near the bottom, under the “Change” button? If this is the issue, then it’s probably the Dropbox installer program.
You have just improved my day immensely as well as my general outlook on life.
Now I just have to figure out where all my .scriv files went. Somehow they have all disappeared inside of their folders in Dropbox. Somehow my new, faster laptop seems to be slowing me down instead of speeding me up. Sigh.
Thank you so much. Yes, in the Kindlegen it was pointing to the dropbox installer. Yea!
