I lost over 2/3 of my work after syncing to Dropbox between MacOS and iOS this morning. I have a request in to support, but I’m fuming at the moment.
I’m not sure what happened, but I started a draft on my Mac yesterday morning, but I had to put the rest of it on hold while I did some other work. I went back to it on my iPad yesterday evening and after a couple of hours, had a finished draft that was important to me.
This morning I opened Scrivener on my Mac and, even though I was sure I’d hit sync on the iPad before I closed it last night, the file on my Mac was the unfinished 1/3 of the total draft I’d left there yesterday morning. I spent about an hour trying to figure out how to make it sync with Dropbox, and finally went and grabbed my iPad. When I opened the iPad, I synced it to Dropbox, and it kept the unfinished version from my Mac!
How do I get my damn work back? I’ve used search in Finder, in Scrivener, and in Dropbox to no avail. I restarted my Mac right before I did the last sync that screwed everything up and also synced with my phone at one point during that hour I spent trying to get it to work.
Please help if you can. I’ve used Scrivener on iOS for eight years, but I absolutely cannot figure out how to properly sync my files between iOS and MacOS through Dropbox.
I really don’t understand why this app can’t just use iCound syncing. Syncing on the same platform works just fine, but like I said, I’ve had problems with the MacOS version since day one. I’m about to just consider the dollars and time I spent on these apps as money wasted and just go back to using Pages. At least I don’t lose work that way!!!
