I have used Scrivener extensively, and recently ran into a situation that left me confused. I hired an editor to work on my 7th novel “Penn Street”. The story is quite complex and has alternating points of view. I found it quite handy to use chapter icons that represented each person for each section. Just love the environment.
But my editor wanted the document in Word format. When I received back her changes, I could not figure out how to work with the Scrivener version again. It’s like my Scrivener version has been cut off and set adrift.
What is the recommended use case here? Copy paste? Is there some other functionality that I missed?
Thank you very much -
Clark
Hi, Clark,
Fellow Scriv user here. Others can speak to this better than I, but here’s one thing to note: there is a setting under the Settings (gear) tab on the right pane of the Compile dialog which will tell Scriv to embed into your Word output links back to the different docs in Scriv from which the different parts of the document come. It is meant as a handy function for that sort of workflow.
There is quite a bit of discussion to be found in these forums about round-tripping your writing with an editor. Not sure how it would be best searched for though!

Hey thanks gr. Now that I know an intended way, I’ll do what I always do: test the heck out of it. If I learn anything valuable, I’ll post here.
cheers
