Epub error issues at kobo, barnes & Nobles, draft2digital, etc

I’ve never had any issues using Calibri or libre office epubs, but I seem to have a lot of issues getting sites to accept the scrivener epub, especially Kobo. Last time I had to resort to a doc file. Can someone explain to me what settings are wrong. I used the novel template and imported the file from libre office. The notice was a resource failure.

  • [1 instance(s) similar to Error while parsing file: [element “a” not allowed here; expected the element end-tag or element “ol”]]
  • 1 OPF file failures

Try compiling to ePub 2. Works for me whenever that for too problem arrises with ePub 3.

Not sure which end the error is at.

I downloaded the epub2 file and compiled using the epub2. I am still getting this error * 1 OPF file failures

The error message should tell you precisely where it is occurring. Look at that spot in the manuscript and see what’s happening. For instance, this error message suggests a mis-formatted date.

You’re welcome to open a support ticket if you like, but we won’t be able to help much without looking at the project.

How do I find the spot in the manuscript? I found the date error, so that’s good. Can we address this issue? * [1 instance(s) similar to Date value “%1$s” does not follow recommended syntax as per http://www.w3.org/TR/NOTE-datetime:%2$s. :Format specifier ‘%2$s’]
I’ve got Kobo to accept the epub2, but it’s not usable. It isn’t acknowledging the section breaks so the images are being split up between two pages, plus the chapters are just running into each other. Any ideas? I’ve deleted the breaks and images multiple times to see if that fixes it. It works great for the epub3 version, which kobo will not accept. I still get the above error. I can start a support ticket if that’s easier.

Yes, please start a support ticket, and attach a copy of the project. There’s really no way to troubleshoot this without knowing exactly where in the manuscript the error is.

You can email a project by using the File → Backup → Backup To command, and checking the box to create a ZIP backup.
