Error compiling to Word

I’m getting the error below when compiling to word (setting is to open the word document when finished).
I tried all the suggestions below and searched for “Microsoft Word” in the forums.
I have version 4.2.3 (14869) for Mac. Thank you.

Word experienced an error trying to open the file.
Try these suggestions.

  • Check the file permissions for the document or drive.
  • Make sure there is sufficient free memory and disk space.
  • Open the file with the Text Recovery converter.

That doesn’t remind me of any ongoing issues, it is probably content related given that.

What I would do though is switch to RTF, which is generally better for MS Word anyway, as it is Scrivener’s native format (no extensive conversion) and Word is the best program available for opening RTF files. If that doesn’t work either, it is almost certainly a content issue—maybe a bad image or character somewhere.

I was able to open the RTF file. Now I have to remember how to get annotations to show up - that is possible when exporting to RTF? Thanks!
