Error launching Scrivener for the first time

Hi. I purchased and downloaded Scrivener 3 on a Surface Pro running Windows 8.1. When I try to launch I get this error: “The procedure entry point SystemParametersInfoFor Dpi could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files\Scrivener 3\Qt6Gui.dll.” I click OK and the app does not launch. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and same error. If anyone knows the fix, please let me know.

Hi Dana, and welcome to the forum.

Since your PC has Windows 8, you’ll need the version 3.1.4.1 download on the legacy downloads page.

Scrivener version 3.1.5.1 from our main downloads page requires either Win 10 or Win 11.
