i downloaded the trial version of scrivener, and put the program in the applications folder and the tutorial on the desktop. However, when i try to start the tutorial, I get an error message;
'the operation could not be completed . an unexpected error occurred (error code - 10660)
I repeated the process, with the same result.
Apologies if i have done or missed something basic - i’m a techno-newbie. Would be grateful for any help. thanks.

I’ve never heard of this happening. Have you got plenty of hard drive space or are you running low? Did you try rebooting (that should never be required, but errors like that sometimes happen when things have got a bit funky on your computer)? How did you open the tutorial? By double-clicking or by opening it via the File menu?
Thanks,
Keith
P.S. Just did a Google search on that particular error message, and it turns out that it happens when you try to open a document with a program that is in the Trash. Did you move an older version of Scrivener to the Trash and double-click on the tutorial to open it? Try emptying the trash to see if that helps.
You got it in one, Keith. I emptied the trash, and it opened just fine.
Looking forward to playing now. Thanks for your help.

Glad you got it sorted! This is an easy mistake that I’ve made myself before - I knew I recognised that error message.
Best,
Keith
