Exponent & Subscript

Hey,
First of all, I’d like to thank for your outstanding work about Scrivener. I use it to organize my scripts for movies and comics… and use it now to write ma first novel.

For me, there is a tiny lack. It will be helpful to add the capacity of doing some exponent and subscript text !
I’m writing in french, and we have some expression which need exponent…
And to add a © or TM sign in front of name of products or companies.

Thanks for your help on these… and I care about the next update of your software.

Kind regards,

Loïc

Hi Zoic,

You can superscript text using Format > Font > Baseline (this is standard on most OS X apps). To write the copyright sign, just type “©”, and for the TM sign, just write “tm” - these should automatically get replaced with superscript symbols, so long as you have “Symbol and text substitution” ticked in the “Corrections” preferences.

Thanks for your kind words!

All the best,
Keith

And if you don’t have substitutions turned on, the standard keyboard shortcuts for these symbols are:

® - Opt-R
© - Opt-G
™ - Opt-2

These might be different on a French keyboard, though. If you turn on the “Keyboard & Character Viewer” in the Language & Text system preference panel, you can use the Keyboard Viewer to see where the symbols are. With the keyboard window up, hold down the Option key, and combine with Shift to see extended symbols.

In fact, yes, I just checked, on French keyboard:

® - Opt-R
© - Opt-C
™ - Shift-Opt-T

Which actually all make more sense than the English ones.
