I’m trying to find a way to generate an external text file that holds only the synopses of selected documents (chapters) in my manu. I had a brief look, mainly at the compiling options, but… lol - I cant see anything obvious.
Is there any way to do this, please?
Thx

i have never tried but if go into compile and duplicate format you like (right click to duplicate and edit and option) then double click to open compile format designer you can designate what is included One option is synopsis If include for sections with text and uncheck text, I think you will get what you want. see pic
That worked great!
But is called CHAPTER on mine, none of the other layouts worked.
Thanks a lot
In the left column of the Compile Overview window also two Compile Formats exist, that do exactly what you want. The Enumerated Outline and the Imdented Outline. Check those out…
I tried 'em out. Both very similar, except both also include the text as well as synopsis (even when they text option is not checked?!). But neither compile reports included the chapter/section titles.
This compile feature is really very sophisticated, and deserves some deeper playing with. However, all I’m after right now is a different POV on my story, so I’m moving the synopses to STC3 corkboard feature to see how that helps me.
Thanks for all the suggestions
That should not be the case.
I’ve tested it and get only the Synopsis and the Title in the output document of the Enumerated Outline Compile Format. Maybe check if the Assignments of Section Types to Section Layouts is correct? I’ve unchecked and checked the checkboxes for Title and Synopsis and made sure the others are not ticked.
