It would be helpful to have a word count at the folder level. Knowing the word count for a logical section would give a writer needed insight into the pace and development of their work.
This is available in the outliner with the “Total Word Count” column (available via View > Outliner Columns). This is the sum of the container’s own text and the text of all its subitems. So for example if your Draft folder contains Chapter folders which contain scene documents, you could load the Draft in the outliner and see something like this

Chapter One 0 | 700
Scene 1 300 | 300
Scene 2 400 | 400
Chapter Two 10 | 410
Scene 1 400 | 400
Here the “Chapter Two” folder has some text of its own, which is included in the total word count along with the 400 words of its subdocument.
