Footnotes issues: How to hyperlink words AND use images?

Hiya! I’m actually not a new user - been here since the first iteration of the software - but this is definitely a new use-case for me. I need be able to hyperlink footnotes and add images. I can figure out how to hyperlink my footnotes BUT it won’t export to the PDF. Thoughts? Also, does Scrivener support image files in footnotes? THANKS, ALL!

EUREKA!
The trick is once the footnote is highlighted: INSERT–>SELECT IMAGE FROM FILE.

BUT - neither the image or my hyperlinks in footnotes are exporting in PDF> :upside_down_face:

What use case have you found that warrents images in Footnotes? It doesn’t seem to fit the purpose of Footnotes.

Um, actually, not true. Some folks need to be able to upload images of tables/math equations. In my case, I’m writing a satire and need to use the form, as I’m taking an experimental approach here. Also - why do you care!?

The PDF compile, is I understand, pretty minimal in its abilities, as it was intended for straightforward proofing purposes. For your purposes, I would compile to your word processor, which should display the footnotes properly, and then print/export to PDF from there.

N.B. if you’re a Mac user, do not open it in TextEdit, as that cannot display footnotes, and I’m not sure about current versions of Pages, as I don’t use that.

I’m just concerned you’re using footnotes in a way that is not supported. I would think a footnote is just a short line of text and maybe a link to a webpage with more information that might contain images. Apparently I’m mistaken and it’s quite normal to insert images in Footnotes. @xiamenese offered the solution to your problem. Njoy!

This is very helpful! Thanks, Deb
