Format confusion -- hanging indent

Hi there, I realize there are many questions already about hanging indents but I don’t see anything that exactly answers my question.

I’m creating my first document in Scrivener. It appears that it’s automatically set to create hanging indents for each paragraph, but I do not want that. I went to “decrease indent” in the format → paragraph section and decreased every option.

Every answer I’ve seen in previous questions about indenting offers solutions that require a number of steps. Surely there is a simple setting change to make sure my documents don’t automatically do hanging indents?

Thanks, and apologies if I’ve missed a previous question that addressed this specifically.

If your Default Formatting, represented by the NoStyle formatting contains a hanging indent, your normal text in the Editor will always start with a hanging indent.
So, you’ll have to update your Default Formatting, which is one step for New documents, but two steps if you already created documents.

  1. = Scrivener > Settings > Edit > Formatting, set your indents to zero or a positive number using the top marker of the Ruler.
  2. . = Select all existing documents in the Binder and choose Documents > Covert > Text to Default Formatting… , leave alle checkbox unselected in the pop-up, and click OK.
